The Launch of Mountain Poet’s Society


On November 23rd, the launch of Mountain Poet’s Society was held in the Department of International Studies, Nanfang College of Sun Yat-Sen University. Aiming to fulfill the idea of liberal education and create a favorable environment for literature study, “Mountain Poet’s Society” was launched in the Mountain Coffee House under the call of Professor Ding Jianxin (Dean of the Department of International Studies, Nanfang College of Sun Yat-Sen University). The founding of Mountain Poet’s Society sets up a platform for the public, especially the literature enthusiasts. Distinguished guests represented at the launch were Professor Zhang Guangkui (School of Foreign Languages, Shenzhen University), Professor Ding Jianxin, and teachers from Department of International Studies, including Hong Danhong, Wang Wen, Sun Han, Wang Yage, Guo Lifei, Xie Qiaojuan, etc.

At the beginning of the launch, teacher Hong quoted various poems to introduce the background of Mountain Poet’s Society. She also explained that poetry enriches people’s routine life but goes beyond life. After the heated opening, Prof. Zhang and Prof. Ding opened the champagne together, symbolizing the foundation of Mountain Poet’s Society. 

Poetry Sharing Session was successively carried out. Students and teachers warmly and enthusiastically performed their recitations. Poem in music, music in poem, all were sublimated in the wonderful night.


Lao Junjie recited the poem “Do Not Gentle into That Good Night. Teacher Wang Yage sang the Chinese poem “September” ("九月") accompanied with guitar. Other languages and dialects were also used to perform the poem.


At the end of the event, Prof. Zhang was recruited by Mountain Poet’s Society as a special adviser.

The event was crowned with complete success.
