Verse Versiona professional platform for worldwide communication of English and Chinese poetry, founded by Zhang Guangkui who is a scholar and poet, is a nonprofit quarterly journal publishing English and Chinese poetry with corresponding translations, as well as poetics and papers. Qu Yuan (343–278 BCE) was the earliest great patriotic and romantic poet who lived during the Warring States period of ancient China. He is known for his contributions to classical poetry and verses, especially the Chu Ci anthology (also known as The Songs of the South or Songs of Chu)—a volume of poems considered to be inspired by his verse writing. Together with Shi Jing, Chu Ci is one of the two great collections of ancient Chinese verse. Historical details about Qu Yuan's life are few. Among his works, Li Sao and Nine Songs are the most representative ones.


Richard Berengarten (李道, 1943- ) was born in London in 1943, into a family of musicians. He has lived in Italy, Greece, the USA and former Yugoslavia. His perspectives as a poet combine English, French, Mediterranean, Jewish, Slavic, American and Oriental influences. Under the name Richard Burns, he has published more than 25 books. In the 1970s, he founded and ran the international Cambridge Poetry Festival. In the UK he has received the Eric Gregory Award, the Wingate-Jewish Quarterly Award for Poetry, the Keats Poetry Prize, and the Yeats Club Prize. In Serbia, he has received the international Morava Charter Poetry Prize and the Great Lesson Award, and in Macedonia, the Manada Prize. He has been Writer-in-Residence at the international Eliot-Dante Colloquium in Florence, Arts Council Writer-in-Residence at the Victoria Centre in Gravesend, Royal Literary Fund Fellow at Newnham College, Cambridge, and a Royal Literary Fund Project Fellow. He has been Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Notre Dame and British Council Lecturer in Belgrade, first at the Centre for Foreign Languages and then at the Philological Faculty. He is a Fellow of the English Association, a Bye-Fellow at Downing College, Cambridge, and an Academic Associate at Pembroke College, Cambridge. His poems have been translated into more than 90 languages.
J. H. Prynne (1936- ) is one of the leading poets in the English world today. His insightful exploration of the poeticality of the English language is acclaimed by the general readers; his innovative writing is imitated by some contemporary poets; and his advanced poetic thought is praised by the present academia. Being an encyclopedic scholar, Mr. Prynne understands profoundly the history of the English literature, especially the history of English versification, and the development of sciences and philosophy.
Lu Xun (魯迅,1881–1936)is the pen name of Zhou Shuren (周樹人), one of the major Chinese writers of the 20th century, the leading figure of modern Chinese literature and the head of the League of the Left-Wing Writers in Shanghai. He is a short story writer, editor, translator, critic, essayist and poet, whose writings influenced generations after May 4th Movement in China.

Geoffrey Chaucer, the first great poet writing in English and deemed as “the father of English poetry”, whose best-known work is The Canterbury Tales,was born between 1340 and 1345, probably in London, died about 1400, and buried in the Poets’ Corner, Westminster Abbey.
