A Self-Mockery

Lu Xun

Fate was doomed, what could I do?

Head has banged on the point of my turn.

Shabby hat slouches along the noisy street,

Wine-boat is leaking adrift on the torrent.

Coldly facing lots of fingers of wrath,

I’m willing to bow as a tame ox for children.

Hiding in a little house, snug as a bug in a rug,

Who cares the changing seasons, winter or spring!
